So here it is, our finished superhero nursery for our little superhero-in-training! With a name like Parker, superheroes in the nursery were inevitable. 🙂 (And, yes, we did indeed name him after Spider-Man – Daddy’s favorite superhero . . . That should definitely be a “You Know You’re a Geek When . . .” post. Hmmm . . . Let me write that one right now . . .Lol)
When I was designing Parker’s nursery, I came across all kinds of superhero ideas. I especially liked the images of the Super Hero Squad, because their rounded little-kid-type animation says “baby” and seemed ideal for a nursery.
My difficulty, however, was not in coming up with ideas, but in limiting them! As popular as superheroes are (especially for boys), I was finding way too many things I loved. Parker’s room is really small, however, so it was important to me to pull off a streamlined look and not have it seem too much like superheroes “threw up” in there, which would have resulted in a cluttered look.
Anyway, I think I pulled it off! Here are the images of the finished room. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
Can you tell we’re a little crazy about Spider-Man around here? 🙂
The Super Hero Squad decal on the wall is from KookyKustom on Etsy. The Spider-Man pillow is from Walmart. Rug is from Target. Chair from Buy Buy Baby. And the crib is from Babies ‘R Us.
The nightstand is a third generation piece (was my mom’s and then mine) that my husband and I refurbished. We gave it a fresh cost of paint and some new Spider-Man drawer knobs. (See below for the knobs.)
The book box is a fabric-covered shoe box that was a baby shower gift from a good friend. (She also gave us the Spidey behind the Captain America shield.)
Here’s a close-up of the drawer knobs. They are from Patrrinasplace on Etsy.
We also used the knobs on Parker’s dresser, another third-generation piece that we refurbished for his nusrsery.
Here’s a view of the other corner, complete with book-nook. The floating shelves are Ribba picture ledges from Ikea.
And here’s a close up of the book-nook:
The wall decal is from vgwalldecals via Etsy.
Over Parker’s crib, we did a wall decal with his name and the subtitle “Superhero In Training.” This decal is from AmericanDecals via Etsy.
And, lastly, here is a close up of the wall art over Parker’s changing table:
I made this art myself using superhero clipart downloaded from various vendors on Etsy. I used Microsoft Word to create a blue background and then just pasted the clipart onto the background. With the center picture, I added some text, also using Word. (Unfortunately, the lighting for taking these pictures wasn’t so great – the wall color is actually a light blue and not gray. Time for mamma to get a new camera. 🙂 )
Overall, I’m very pleased with how the room turned out. I can’t wait for Parker to use it!
